It is true what they say: the character of an apartment is determined by its location.
But it’s not quite so easy if you want to understand the personality of JOHANNISPLATZ.
JOHANNISPLATZ
ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
Architectural elegance rarely results from a smorgasbord of forms and colors. Instead, a conscious reduction to the core elements, a cohesive overall concept and the skillful use of suspense in the design story leads to this elegance.
The architecture of JOHANNISPLATZ is inspired by its surroundings and yet also has its very own character. Towards the street, the ensemble presents itself with ornamental details, while the inner courtyard is dominated by clear lines and an accentuated design language.

INTERIOR AND FURNISHINGS
The ambience of a home needs the personality of those who live there. And it needs space to unfold its magic. The apartments at JOHANNISPLATZ – regardless of their dimensions – create spaces that generate ambience. The effect of selected details is striking: you don’t need to examine them in individual detail to appreciate their effect as a whole. The same goes for the furnishings and fixtures at JOHANNISPLATZ: because we were so selective when choosing the materials and components, your home will welcome you with an impression of something special that will only increase with time, and will stay with you in day-to-day living.
LAYOUT
FLOOR PLANS
JOHANNISPLATZ proves that there’s no need to do without light, air and quiet – even in the middle of the city. You need a change of perspective to truly recognize the impressive setting of JOHANNISPLATZ: only from above can you see the green inner courtyard facing west that reflects the green of Johannisplatz square across the street. This perspective also allows you a glimpse of the generous roof terraces.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
If you come to Munich looking to enjoy life, then you might – at first – ignore the hot spots of the city and instead seek out its cozy corners, the lovely squares and the calm side streets that can still be found in the city. For example in Haidhausen. This district has quite a special story to tell: Haidhausen was once an independent town that wasn’t incorporated as part of Munich until the mid-19th century. You can still feel this in the structure of the district – and you can sense the independence of the people who live there. Once a place for business and tradespeople, today Haidhausen is a neighborhood for old and new Munich residents alike that sets trends in living, life and enjoyment. Art and culture have been around for quite some time, for example the Gasteig cultural center and the Muffatwerk venue for international art and culture.
HEADING
NEWS FROM AU-HAIDHAUSEN

HIGHLIGHTS
The biggest highlight of the Au district is right across from it, on the other side of the Isar: downtown Munich. In spite of this impressive neighbor, however, Au has a number of its own attractions to offer – the Mariahilf church and the Auer Dult fair, for example. Or the Nockherberg terrace, the Deutsches Museum, the Gasteig cultural center and the Isarauen nature preserve. The area is just typically Munich.

HISTORY
Like in so many other old cities, Au originated as a business district due to the courses of the Isar and Mühlbach rivers – with all of the trades that made their living from and with the water. In later years, Au-Haidhausen was a typical workers’ neighborhood, discovered only recently by hipsters and trendsetters. Good thing the district has never lost its original charm with all these different groups laying claim to it!

TRADITION
If you live and work in Au, then you are more than happy to point out that Quellenstraße is likely the most beautiful street in Munich. This sense of its own tradition is tangible throughout the neighborhood – not least in the architectural specialties like the “hostel cottages” and the wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. So it’s no wonder that architecture worth preserving and the painstaking restoration of historic buildings are so important here.

RECREATION
With downtown Munich just across the Isar River, the possibilities for recreation, distraction and sport are practically limitless. And yet Au-Haidhausen offers a host of leisure time activities that are an alternative to a city lifestyle – the Müller’sches Volksbad pool and sauna, a number of original taverns and the Gasteig and Muffatwerk cultural centers, just to name a few.
